In Kermanshah, 21 schoolgirls were hospitalized, while in Ilam, 8 schoolgirls were affected. In Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, 7 schoolgirls were hospitalized. The head of Hormozgan’s education department stated that the cause of the illness is still under investigation, but initial reports suggest that the students may have consumed contaminated food or water.
The Iranian government has dispatched teams to investigate the cause of the illnesses, with officials collecting samples of water, food, and soil from the affected areas.
